How To Read The Bible When Busy

Have you been having the intentions of reading and spending quality time with the word of God but you find yourself super busy. The phone is buzzing, you need to make a quick call, you have to check yours kids or maybe you are late for work?.

Well if that sounds familiar, you are not alone. On this blog we are going to share helpful practical ways that will make sure you stay connected to the word of God on a busy schedule

1. Understand Yourself

One of the most important things you need to do before anything else is to understand yourself first.

And by this I mean, you need to know yourself when are you mostly active. Question yourself am I a morning, afternoon or a night person. At what time of the day or night do I find it comfortable to read the word of God.

By having a clear understanding when your brain is mostly active you will find it easier to schedule a time to read the Bible.

2. The Goal

Ask yourself and analyze what are the primary goals you are hoping on achieving at the end of the day.

We have to agree that at the end of the day there must be a goal you would wish on achieving. Take a moment and ask yourself, what is it that I am hoping to understand or achieve at the end the day.

Do I want to fix my ways of praying, worshiping, reading the bible and understanding it, or maybe you want to learn the correct way of living as a true Christian. These are some of the common questions you should ask yourself.

3. Find a Suitable Way of Learning

After identifying your favorable time and setting up your personal goals , the next thing is to find a suitable way of learning the Bible.

Ask yourself how do I prefer reading the bible, is it through having a bible study, watching videos related to the bible or listening to Bible related audio books. When you get clarity on this, you will find yourself having an easier time engaging with the word of God with no problem.

Make sure you set a good suitable learning format that does not by any way interfere with you work or you personal life at any given time .

4. Schedule

Create a schedule that is suitable for you and does not interfere with you work or your day-to-day activities.

When creating this schedule make sure it is reasonable and does not take most of your time. Do not create a schedule that would sound impossible for you to keep up with or just for the sake of having one.

This is a critical step towards achieving your goal so make sure you take you time and be wise when making one.

5. Start Small

After creating your personal schedule which you find comfortable with, do not be in a rush to kick start at a high pace.

You might find yourself in a position where you would want to learn ”everything” at a go, but one of the main goal is to maintain consistency. Remember it is a marathon not a sprint.

Start small as you begin this journey so as to not put unnecessary pressure to yourself or your loved ones.

6. Build Momentum

Throughout the whole journey, the main thing that will surely keep you going is a positive momentum.

Building momentum not only does it keep you going it also encourages you. You see, when momentum builds up you start to feel light and finding time for the word becomes to be easy because you are maintaining consistency.

7. Make it a Habit

After building yourself some momentum as you move on, slowly but steady start developing a habit as you progress.

Making it a habit will save you from procrastination or other excuses you will try to come up with. By making it a habit you will find yourself not having a hard time trying to connect to the word of God because you will have made it ”natural” in you.

At times you will find yourself not needing to check your schedule because you will have already made this a habit.

8. Be Gentle With Yourself

As you go through the word of God try to be gentle with yourself while reading or while engaging with it.

Remember it is not a sprint rather than a marathon. Do not overwhelm yourself with loads of information from the scripture. Do not fatigue yourself just for the sake of trying to be ahead or trying to understand everything on one day.

Try to keep a pace you find suitable for yourself and one that will not fatigue or bore you while connecting with the word.

9. Find Motivation

At times you will find yourself feeling a bit off and not having any motivation as you once had in the beginning.

It is important to for you to know what really drives you to stay motivated. Take some time and think of all the things you find motivation from. As soon as you find them whether big or small apply it the moment you start to feel low or uneasy.

10. Reflect

As some time goes by, take a moment and reflect on your progress and everything you have learnt over that period of time.

Take some time of and check how you have been doing over the past period of time. {it could be two to three weeks}. Try and come up with better strategy for you day-to-day engagement.

Analyze everything and try pointing out things that you might find overwhelming or that do not suit you and make them better for the future progress.

conclusion

As the world gets busier and busier each day, it is important for us to realize that waking up in the morning is not guaranteed. So it is crucial for us to find some time for our Lord Jesus Christ and to thank Him. It is not a guarantee that it is going to be easy finding time, but remember the reason you are able to even read this post is because of the Grace that our Lord has given unto us. Do not lose faith.
